Rabbi Moshe Mitrani (1500-1580), known as the Mabit, was one of the leading halachic authorities of Tzfat and a colleague of Rabbi Yosef Karo. He served as head of a major yeshiva in Tzfat and authored responsa literature that is still studied today. His work Beit Elohim is an important work on prayer and mitzvot.
