Rabbi Avraham Dov of Avritch (1765-1840), author of the Bat Ayin, was a Chassidic master of the Chernobyl dynasty who made aliyah to the Holy Land and served as rabbi of Tzfat from 1820 until his death. He was deeply beloved by his community and is known for his warm, accessible teachings on serving God with joy. He is buried in the Old Cemetery of Tzfat and his kever is visited by thousands each year.
