Choni HaMagel (Choni the Circle-Drawer) was a Talmudic sage famous for his extraordinary power of prayer. When a drought threatened the Jewish people, he drew a circle in the ground and declared he would not leave it until God sent rain. He prayed, and rain came. He is also famous for sleeping for 70 years (like Rip Van Winkle) and waking to find that everything had changed. His kever is near Tzfat.
