cityoftzfat.com wants everyone – including people with disabilities and older visitors – to be able to use this website and enjoy Tzfat. We are working to make the Site accessible in line with the Israeli Standard SI 5568, based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at level AA, as required by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013, and with WCAG 2.1 AA more generally.
What we have done
- The Site works on computers, tablets and phones, and the text can be enlarged with the browser’s zoom without losing content.
- Pages use headings, lists and landmarks so they can be navigated with a screen reader or keyboard.
- Text and background colours are chosen for readable contrast.
- Images that carry information have text alternatives, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Hebrew and Yiddish text is marked as right-to-left so that it is read correctly.
- Links that open other websites are labelled where possible.
- Our spam protection is invisible and does not ask you to solve picture puzzles.
Known limitations
We are still improving the Site. Some areas may not yet be fully accessible, including:
- Some maps provided by third parties.
- Some photos uploaded by businesses, which may lack descriptions.
- Some documents and pages on external websites we link to, such as booking or payment pages.
- Pages in languages other than English are newly translated and may still contain errors.
Accessibility of places in Tzfat
Many of Tzfat’s holy sites and synagogues are in the Old City, with steep stone steps and narrow alleys. Where we know it, listings say whether a place is wheelchair accessible. Please contact the place directly to confirm before your visit.
Contact our accessibility coordinator
If you have difficulty using any part of the Site, or have a suggestion, please let us know and we will do our best to help and to fix the problem. Email info@cityoftzfat.com with the subject “Accessibility”, and include the page address and a short description of the problem. We aim to reply within 5 business days.
