A small Old City synagogue built by Vizhnitz Hasidim around 1870. When the Vizhnitz community left Tzfat around 1948, Rabbi Yehoshua Pergi Pitusi, who had come from Tunis, gathered a new congregation, and the building was handed over to them on condition that it keep the name Vizhnitz-Tunis. Families from Tunisia and Djerba still pray here, in Nusach Edot HaMizrach.
The building was once close to ruin and has been restored, keeping its old part. The blue eastern façade still shows shrapnel marks from the 2006 rocket that hit the neighbouring Chortkov synagogue; they were left as a memorial. The door plaque names the synagogue under the leadership of the Admor Rabbi Yehoshua Pergi Pitusi.
There is a sunrise (netz) Shacharit minyan. Prayer times change with the seasons — check the board at the door.
