In an emergency

Police 100 · Ambulance (Magen David Adom) 101 · Fire & Rescue 102. From a foreign phone, 112 also works. The municipal hotline is 106 for non-emergency city problems such as water, streetlights or rubbish.

Ziv Medical Center

Tzfat's public hospital, on HaRambam Street, has a 24-hour emergency department and is a designated trauma centre. It serves Tzfat, the Upper Galilee and the northern Golan.

Choosing a kupat cholim

Every resident joins one of the four health funds: Clalit, Maccabi, Meuhedet or Leumit. All four have clinics in Tzfat. Choose by how close the clinic is to your home, which specialists you need, and whether you want an English-speaking family doctor. Each fund's website lists its local branches.

Evenings and Shabbat

Call your kupat cholim's hotline first: each one directs members to its own or contracted urgent-care centres, and hours vary. The nearest Terem urgent-care centre is in Karmiel. For anything serious, call 101 or go to Ziv.
