A city of Torah
Shiurim & women's learning
Tzfat has been a city of Torah for centuries. Today adults — men and women, beginners and experienced learners — can find a shiur at almost any level.

Shiurim in the shuls
Many shuls hold a daily shiur, often between Mincha and Maariv, and longer classes on Shabbat. Times are posted on the shul notice board; the gabbai will tell you what is on.
Learning for women
Tzfat has seminaries and classes for women at every stage — from post-high-school programmes to adult learning for beginners and advanced learners. Some follow a particular Chassidic approach, so ask before you join.
Classes in English
Several of Tzfat's learning centres were founded by English speakers, and English-language classes run through the year, from introductory classes to in-depth text study. Community email lists and the Tzfat Chevre group announce new series.
Kabbalah
Study of Kabbalah in Tzfat ranges from introductory talks to serious study of the texts. Our guide explains how to choose a class and lists the centres and teachers.
Finding times
Shul notice boards, community WhatsApp groups and email lists, and the Torah & Learning section of this site. Times change around the holidays and in summer, so check before you go.
Details checked November 2026. Hours and rules change — confirm before you go.
