The highest point in Tzfat and the city’s most historically significant defensive site. Occupied from Crusader times (1102 CE) through the 1948 War of Independence, it served as the most important Crusader administrative post in the Middle East. Today visitors can explore ongoing archaeological digs, picnic where the knights’ hall once stood, and enjoy panoramic views of the Galilee. On clear days the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret) is visible.
