Miriam was the third daughter of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. She married Pinchas, son of Rabbi Aryeh Leib of Volochisk, who travelled with his father’s group to the Land of Israel and passed away soon after arriving; they had no children.
Some years later, another son of Rabbi Aryeh Leib offered to escort Miriam to the Holy Land. Rebbe Nachman agreed, and walked the first stretch of the road beside the travellers on foot, saying that one does not ride when accompanying people going to the Land of Israel. In the Land, Pinchas’s brother married her in fulfilment of the mitzvah of yibum. According to tradition she is buried in the Old Cemetery of Tzfat.
